Have You Ever Thought....

Have you ever considered homeschooling your kids?  I have.

I've actually thought about it for several years, but I've never been brave enough to take the steps.  Most of the people around me think it's loony, and I suppose that slows me down, too.

President Boyd K. Packer said,in a charge to the David O. McKay School of Education, October 1996:
"In many places it is literally not safe physically for youngsters to go to school. And in many schools - and it's becoming almost generally true - it is spiritually unsafe to attend public schools. Look back over the history of education to the turn of the century and the beginning of the educational philosophies, pragmatism and humanism were the early ones, and they branched out into a number of other philosophies which have led us now into a circumstance where our schools are producing the problems that we face."

And I send them there every day?

Here's another one:
"The ultimate purpose of the adversary, who has “great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time,” is to disrupt, disturb, and destroy the home and the family. Like a ship without a rudder, without a compass, we drift from the family values which have anchored us in the past. Now we are caught in a current so strong that unless we correct our course, civilization as we know it will surely be wrecked to pieces.
Moral values are being neglected and prayer expelled from public schools on the pretext that moral teaching belongs to religion. At the same time, atheism, the secular religion, is admitted to class, and our youngsters are proselyted to a conduct without morality.

World leaders and court judges agree that the family must endure if we are to survive. At the same time, they use the words freedom and choice as tools to pry apart the safeguards of the past and loosen up the laws on marriage, abortion, and gender. In so doing, they promote the very things which threaten the family."

Again-and I send them there every day?

It really bothers me.  I'm shocked sometimes at the things that my children come home with that they heard at school.  And how about bullying and such?
No good at all.

So how long do we let it go before we take control of what is going into their little minds?  How long do I think about it, hear about it, and even watch it, before I do something about it?
I'm still not very brave.  I'm not Michelle Duggar, though I would totally love to be more like her. I lose my temper, my house gets messy, and I'm afraid I don't have the discipline necessary to home school.

But I'm still thinking about it.
And considering it.

This is true...i see it everyday...but i also see what good comes out of it. Missionary opportunities, the chance for your kids to be able to stand up for what they believe in, to be an example to others, to learn to listen to those promptings from the spirit, to be able to stand through those trails and say "from all that, i have become stronger." There have been many times in my life where i have had the opportunity to be an example, and be asked questions about my religion that i can proudly answer. Yes, school is dangerous place, a place where kids fall under the temptation. But it is also a place, that if your children are taught right, they can exercise there ability for agency, and hopefully, make the right choice. And as for bullies, thats there loss, and your childrens gain if they know how do deal with it correctly. And never let them ever forget that I love them, you love them, and most importantly, Their heavenly father loves them beyond what they can comprehend, and they can go to him for anything. I am not telling you what you should do, or going against the athourities. I am merely giving you something to think about it. I know it sounds crazy, but i believe that school can be a testimony builder if we are doing the right thing. Well, thanks for reading my paragraph, lol. I miss you guys and sure do love you:)
