Causes

I still need to do a vacation post...

I have a friend, well, not a friend exactly...
There is a blog that I follow. The mother who writes it is an amazing example to me, and she has a daughter who has Bardet-Biedl Syndrome. I don't know much about it, but I know that it almost always causes blindness. You can read her story here.

Now, I've never really had a "cause". My kids are all healthy, with no "real" physical issues that I've ever needed to fight for. That's not the case for this family. They have a little girl, Lucy, with the most beautiful blue eyes you've ever seen, and they are fighting to find a cure for blindness. Right now, from my understanding, Lucy can still see pretty well. I think she has a little bit of trouble in dim light, but overall she can still see. Wouldn't it be amazing if a way was found to STOP this blindness before it happens? Just amazing.
So I've taken up a cause. I've started a team, in Lucy's honor, for the Foundation Fighting Blindness Vision Walk. The walk itself isn't until May here in the Dallas area, but if you'll click here, you'll surely find one close to you. (For my family and friends in Arizona, yours is this Saturday, so you'd better get on the stick!) If you'd like to support my team in our fundraising efforts, click here. The walk itself is free, and I would love to have as many people there to walk with me as can make it, even if you can't donate.
I honestly have never done anything like this before, but I'm really excited about it. It feels good to fight for something.

Ashley, you make me want to cry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope you don't mind if I send people over here from my blog to read this.

Oh Ashley, I follow Shawni's blog too. Is Lucy not the most precious thing? As a matter of fact, her whole family is such a blessing to me...I don't know them but her blog is such an inspiration. What a blessing I know you are to them for doing this! God Bless You!
