We have but one computer in this house. All of the Rowelings are obsessed with it. Each of them is allotted one hour each day (during the summer, excluding Sundays) to play. Despite the fact that there are more than enough hours in the day to accommodate all four who want to play (four because "five" hasn't yet discovered the joy) there is still an onslaught of "Mom, can I play the computer?"s every morning. When, say, "two" discovers that "one" has asked first on any given morning, there may be a meltdown. At least a little whining. I have tried several things to stop this maddening routine, but it's always the same. Although I, too, enjoy the computer (note that blogging must be done on one) I sometimes have the violent thought in my mind of shooting it. I suppose that would end it. May I say that this is not limited to the computer, although that is where most of the problem lies, but also with any other electronic device. Television, video games (stationary or hand-held), etc. Would it be so bad to go "techno-free"? Unfortunately, I think it would. So I'll suffer through the whining and begging. School starts in just a couple of weeks, then they only get to play on Saturday unless they're doing school work. Sounds nice.
